CAT MCNEIL GIVES US THE BUTTERFLies
My first time working with our cover model, Cat McNeil, we had a conversation about her features and how perfect they are for beauty. Her look is so gorgeous and mysterious and feline-esque. She said I even look like a cat! I told her a story about a similar conversation I had with Crystal Renn, another other-worldly muse, and how she loves crystals, and connects so deeply with the energy of crystals, which makes her name perfect for her. After that shoot with Cat, I always said in a humorous way that when It comes to beauty or just being a rad person in general Cat Mcneil was my spirit animal..

A beauty consultant Point of view on The Grammys 2018 Red Carpet
My favorite annual event that has a sea of celebrities pulling out their most statement worthy beauty and fashion looks is The Grammys. Not only because musicians are so much more fascinating to me than actors, but also because the event calls for the celebrities to express who they are as the can go very casual to over the top costume.
My favorite look head to toe was Lady Gaga, she felt very gothic romantic to me, not only did she look beautiful but she served us some well executed creativity with her hairstyle. The very platinum blonde wig she wore ...

reflection of 2017 career highlights
2018 has arrived! It’s 11 degrees outside here in NYC, so I am happy to be at home with my pretty christmas tree, frankincense candles and cuddly cats. Today I plan to spend the first day of the new year with reflecting in the morning and manifesting in the afternoon.

Veiled Red Starring Julia Banas
For years, to know me was to know that I loved a bold red lip. I didn’t go a block or a subway stop (or to the laundromat, to brunch, or pretty much anywhere) without it. For ages as a makeup artist I favored dark clothing, and spent at least 40 minutes on my makeup application alone; that lip was perfect and not going anywhere all day. A red lipstick was always my one, striking accent, with a nod to vintage makeup looks that influenced me from early on...

Putting this whole experience into words has been the hardest part of launching DOCUMENTARYBEAUTY! As a makeup artist, writing about makeup and skincare is second nature to me, but sharing my experience as a magazine editor and beauty director and launching the magazine is such a personal experience and a whole new journey. Being involved every step of the way, from creating concepts, makeup design...

"LIKE WILDFLOWERS, ALLOW YOURSELF TO GROW IN PLACES PEOPLE NEVER THOUGHT YOU WOULD.”
It’s 9/11 today, and I’m sitting on the beach in Wildwood, New Jersey. I got a little emotional seeing all the memorial posts earlier, so I’m going to avoid social media for the rest of the day and focus on spending the day in gratitude. Being on the beach surrounded by nature has always been my favorite place to reflect on life and how precious it is, and how important it is to be grateful for it. Gratitude is one of the best feelings in the world.
One of the things I’m feeling grateful for right now is to have Joan Smalls as our cover model for the launch issue of DOCUMENTBEAUTY, and ...
